Our CHNOS Department performs a range of instrumental methods to measure gas products evolved from combusted compounds. We have capabilities to perform carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen and trace halogen testing. This department also performs some physical property testing and Karl Fischer Water analyses:
Carbon, Hydrogen and Nitrogen (CHN): Commonly referred to as “Elemental Analysis”, this test quantifies the carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen in organic and organometallic samples.
Sulfur: This test quantifies the sulfur concentration in organic and inorganic samples after combustion in an oxygen atmosphere.
Oxygen: This test quantifies the oxygen content in organic samples.
Trace Halogens: This test quantifies the total halogens (chlorine, bromine and iodine) in organic substances.
Physical Property Testing: Broad range of methods meant to evaluate the physical properties of materials.
Karl Fischer Water: This test quantifies the residual moisture (water) present in a sample.
